Balancing School Life and Normal Life
School takes up not only a majority of your day, but also a majority of your life. You’ve probably been in school for more than a decade by now—countless hours spent with multiplication tables, textbooks, and science equipment. But while it’s a huge part of your life right now, it’s not always the biggest. You have a family outside of school—your mom, your dad, maybe siblings and cousins—as well as friends and acquaintances. Maybe you’re involved at your church, synagogue, or mosque, and you volunteer at a soup kitchen some weekends. Yes, school is important, and doing well there is important, too. But you shouldn’t put that in front of being a good son or daughter, and a good friend. Taking stock of the things that are important will help maintain perspective, which is essential for helping you ace not just school but life.
My life at school is not my whole life. By taking stock of the other parts of my life and making time for others, I can clearly gauge what is important.
